Basic principles of Public Key Infrastructures (PKIs)
A PKI is a structured organisation and process system that enables confidential, secured and legally binding communications in open (unsecured) electronic communication networks. The principle of a PKI is both simple and effective. An individual key pair is assigned to each user. This key pair comprises one private and one public key. With the help of this key pair, users in a communication network can authenticate each other and communicate in a confidential manner. Each PKI requires a reliable authority that generates the keys and issues these to authenticated users. This kind of authority is referred to as a trust center or certification service provider. And that's precisely what D-TRUST does!
