The D-TRUST multicard is activated either by a single card reader or by a card reader rack which is capable of handling several cards at the same time. In practical use, the D-TRUST multicard requires suitable signature software enabling the electronic signing of data in batch mode (i.e. release of a certain number of signing processes) or in fully automated processes based on time windows. Bulk signature operations must be performed in a specially protected environment.
