Centralised working
Creating workflows, processing approvals and signing in a legally compliant way via e-signature all take place in one central system – without switching between media or relying on error-prone manual processes.
Scalable system
The signature software is scalable – from a single team to the entire organisation. You can flexibly adjust your user numbers or integrate additional trust services into your processes. Anyone using portiQ start can easily switch to portiQ extended or portiQ local at any time.
Fast workflows
You can flexibly create your own workflows and capture all information for automated further processing. Forwarding is carried out entirely by digital means and, if required, to multiple signatories.
Cloud hosting
portiQ start does not require you to have your own IT infrastructure – all processes run via the cloud. It is operated in Germany in a C5-certified* data centre. portiQ start is operated and supported by our technology partner, SecCommerce Informationssysteme GmbH.
Fewer errors
Automated processes around digital signatures and approvals save time and therefore costs – and prevent errors. The status overview always gives you a clear view of who is currently responsible.

FAQ: frequently asked questions about portiQ start
portiQ start is the cloud-based signature service, ready for immediate use and with no IT overhead, provided by D-Trust and SecCommerce. The Software-as-a-Service solution provides secure, legally valid e-signatures and is aimed in particular at smaller companies and public authorities, as well as teams within larger organisations that want to get started easily with e-signature solutions.
portiQ start offers simple, advanced and qualified electronic signatures, which can be combined as required. The SaaS solution for creating digital signatures can be flexibly adapted as requirements for the e-signature software in use grow.
The e-signature solution is operated exclusively in German, C5-certified (and therefore particularly secure) cloud infrastructures. The trust services used meet the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation.
As an e-signature solution, portiQ start covers all three levels of electronic signatures:
- Create a simple electronic signature (SES): Signing digitally is possible and is sufficient for everyday transactions (find out more at https://www.bundesdruckerei.de/en/innovation-hub/different-digital-signature-levels)
- Create an advanced electronic signature (AES): The identity of those signing digitally has been verified and confirmed in advance.
- Create a qualified electronic signature (QES): The QES is the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature and offers maximum evidential value in electronic processes.
With QES, identity is verified directly in the signing process using so-called in-band identification. This also enables external customers, partners or applicants to create a qualified digital signature.
External users can also sign documents via portiQ start using QES if they are invited – entirely without their own portal log-in. This is possible because identity verification takes place directly within the signing process.
portiQ start is operated in a C5-certified German data centre. The signature methods and trust services used are based on established cryptographic procedures and a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Processing is GDPR-compliant, and the signatures meet the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation.
